The meditation and wandering of a man in his remote village, Khandzadzor, leads him to remember the past and express his thoughts about the world.

Filmed with a Video 8 camescope and an iphone 6

As part of the final project for the first year of the Bachelor's degree at HEAD, Department of Cinema, during a trip to Haut-Karabakh.

“Similar to the first sequence, the director stirs up a narrative, that of Gnel, to shed light on the landscape, destinies, and the prevailing ruin in this endlessly war-torn country. Through words, a warning is first issued: fire threatens to become an inferno, rain a flood - danger looms close, peace is never secure. Then comes the quest for meaning and tranquility.

In the visuals, the initial darkness transforms into still, petrified shots of ruins and tombs, in a fragile and ethereal texture. Gradually, fueled by the powerful energy of the mountains, the frame gains strength and fluidity, ascending to the altitude of flight. The evocation of Jonathan Livingston Seagull emerges as a voice of resilience: the legacy is one of conflict, humiliations, and grief, but also of an insatiable thirst for light and freedom..”
